After the shutdown of PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker and the Cereus Poker Network to US poker players this past weekend other online poker rooms still serving the US market saw a nice increase in their player traffic. One of the biggest recipients of the new US player traffic was Bodog Poker which saw its peak traffic rise over 1,500 players for the first time in months, and has seen traffic increase roughly 25% week over week according to pokerscout.com.
The Merge Gaming Network is also still accepting US Poker Players and has seen a similar increase in traffic, while the Cake Poker Network has seen about a 10% increase, but this comes with the caveat that Cake Network skin, Victory Poker, has decided to disallow US players from their site.
The increase at Bodog, Merge, and Cake does not even come close to the amount of US players who can no longer play at PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker and the Cereus Poker Network, which means the overwhelming majority of US poker players have decided to sit out for a while and let things fall into place before deciding if they want to reenter the online poker market.
According to pokerscout.com, PokerStars traffic is down over 33%, Full Tilt Poker has seen nearly a 50% drop in overall traffic, and the Cereus Network has dropped nearly 40% looking at week-over-week numbers –these numbers are likely to get worse as the week wears on.
